PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Our customer is a global leader in the domain of clearing, offering access to a wide range of listed instruments on markets across the globe.
IT is in the heart of their organization with more than 30 different product teams and 10 different platform teams that are trying to build the best products & services for their customers.
Their presence in important financial centers like Amsterdam, Chicago, Sydney, Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, London, Sao Paulo and Frankfurt, allows them to effectively serve clients worldwide and maintain close proximity to their diverse customer base.
THE ROLE INVOLVES:
Our customer is migrating all risk management related applications from a bare metal infrastructure (legacy applications) and a transitional platform (cloud native applications) to their new on-premise OpenShift Container Platform, so we are looking for a DevOps Engineer who will help them making this an efficient and successful journey.
Their applications and processes need to be fit for public cloud in the long run. The aim is to improve flexibility and resilience from an engineering perspective and improve the time to market for our customers.
As a member of the application team, responsible for the application migration, you will help improving CI/CD pipelines and software automation and give advice on adjusting legacy and building cloud native applications.
Next to the hands-on OpenShift migration work, you will advise on future directions towards AWS public cloud as well.
You will work closely together with the Platform and Infra teams, set application requirements, design tests and play a prominent role in the platform acceptance and application onboarding process.
Responsibilities:
- Migrate applications to OpenShift Container platform
- Improve CI/CD pipelines
- Collaborate with developers on software requirements
- Encourage and build automated processes wherever possible
- React quickly to feedback to continuously improve processes
- Informally train and share your DevOps knowledge within the teams
- Build a bridge to the cloud platform teams
TECHNICAL PLAYGROUND:
- 4+ years of relevant experience as a DevOps Engineer
- Experience with Linux (like System Administration tasks), knowledge of networking routes, TCP/IP, SSL Certificates, virtualization (VMWare or VirtualBox)
- Experience with provisioning tooling like Ansible and/or Chef
- Experience with migrating applications to an OpenShift Container Platform
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7-9
- Experience with automation software like Jenkins or OpenShift for Deployment
- Experience in automation and testing via scripting & programming with e.g. Bash and Python
- Experience with source control tools like Git
- Experience with creating Docker containers
NICE TO HAVE:
- Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in always-availability services
- A demonstrated record of achievement in large technical (migration) projects
- Setup and configure CI/CD pipelines in a Microservices architecture landscape
- Experience working with AWS cloud (deploy, manage, maintain) is highly appreciated; preferably AWS certified
- Strong engineering instinct (do the right thing) and a deep understanding of computer science
- Awareness of critical concepts in DevOps and Agile principles
- University degree in Computer Science/Engineering
